Magnificent pyramids and history

This UNESCO site is one of those places that just takes you breath away due to the shear size of the temples and the accuacy with which they were built. Make sure you take all the sun protection you can because the site is very exposed.

Mayan Mystique

You need to have a hat, lot of water and be prepared to see a line of small shops bordering this place. Apart from this, it was a delight being there, the place is beautiful and has some kind of vibe to it which makes you feel so good. The ruins are amazing.

Amazing

It takes a couple hours to get to Chichen Itza, but it is well worth it. This is a must-see destination for everyone! The ruins are magnificent, and plenty of awe-inspiring structures to marvel at.

A breathtaking place that takes you back in time!!!

Ever since Chichén Itzá was named one of the New Wonders of the World, it has received much more attention, and with enough reasons. Chichén Itzá is such a wonderful place that takes you back time once you enter the site. The great Pyramid, the Thousand columns, the wall of the skulls and the Temple of the warriors are some of the many places you can visit here. Everywhere you look at, there is a story and so much history all around. I am so proud of taking the time of visiting this once forgotten place. Definitely worth a thousand more visits.

Magnificent!

A must see. We went with our 5 kids (ages 6-16). I recomend preparing them ahead of time watching movies and fun facts about the ruins, mesoamerican people, and mexican culture in general (exemple road to El Dorado, Disney’s Coco). It is a long day. And may be tiresome for the little ones. Binoculars, maps and other explorer gear (think Dora the explorer and Diego and Indiana Jones) helps them cope.

Majestic ruins

Chichen Itza is one of the 7 wonders of the world for good reason. It´s incredibly well preserved and has such a rich history. Definitely worth it. The north part of the site is by far the most interesting and there likely is no need to see the south part unless you are a big-time history buff. Bring sun protection and comfortable shoes!

Go Early

AN amazing site. It does get crowded so go as soon as it opens to enjoy an uncrowded few hours

Iconic

The site itself was really impressive with lots of ruins to look at. The site is exposed by the pyramid and ball court with limited shade there but you can find shade elsewhere. It gets very hot. Worth taking your own map with you as signposting is pretty limited.

Chichen Itza, Yucatan - Mexico

About two and a half hour drive away from Cancun, this is a Mayan ruin listed the new seven wonders of the world along with the Taj Mahal, Petra, Machu Picchu etc. The history, their way of life, the mathematics of many structures which will make your jaw drop!

Amazing Mayan Historic Site

A great insight into Mayan architecture & civilisation, the private guide was very informative

Day trip

Our guide was exceptional- knowledgeable and entertaining. He could be a history professor. Chichen Itza is worth seeing, but the massive number of people and the vendors tarnish the site.

Beautiful city

It was great to see these pyramids.

Mayan history

Chichen Itza was very educational and interesting. We had a fabulous guide with a wealth of information. We had plenty of time to wander and explore after the tour. You can no longer climb the ruins. There are vendors everywhere that can be a bit bothersome.

Bucket list visit

We have always wanted to visit Chichen Itza and now we have. It was one of those places you want to visit from the time you read anything about it. To see something that is so old and full of history was amazing. It is a trip that will take your breath away when you see it. The driver and guide were very knowledgable and friendly. The only downside is all the venders trying to sell items, but I understand they are just trying to make a living. We even bought a few things to bring home. This is definately a trip that should be taken if you are able.

Amazing history

The ruins and history is absolutely fascinating. Doing a bit of research before hand to get up to date on the history of the Maya gave me a better appreciation for the site. For what it is - 5 stars. Have to remove a star for the absolutely insane amount of hustlers trying to sell their souvenirs.

Awesome!

We had a very informative tour guided by a young man. I don´t know what we can say about the ruins that hasn´t been said. It was awesome walking around and seeing the fruits of labor of these obviously very intelligent people from centuries ago. A must see!
