TJ Hill In July 26, 2020Chichen Itza is a wide Mayan Archaeological Site located in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. To get to Chichen Itza from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and other destinations located in Quintana Roo state, 180 highway has two roads. One including toll road fee and another free route.
The whole site is so big that anyone can easily get lost if not following a guide or available maps of the area. There are many buildings divided by groups, so you better have some as much Chichen Itza maps as possible in-handy before hitting the site by any of our tours. Remember you have spare time so you can get amazing pictures from both you, the pyramid and other buildings. Just keep in mind that time flies by when in tourist mode.
The following maps will help locate yourself and existing buildings at Chichen Itza. Bear in mind that almost every building (including the main pyramid) is protected with symbolic fences for security and conservating reaons, so visitors don't try to climb up or get into any of them.
A good recommendation is to bring comfortable shoes, since, as you can see in the maps, the site is quite large.
